Left Hanging

Everytime before a major trip comes up, I have a tendency to review my blog and think of the wonderful memories experienced during the past trips.

What this does is excite me start writing again. As you can see from earlier trends, I stop for quite a while after posting about a recent trip.

Heres to hoping I can keep the fire burning.

Upcoming next, Hong Kong Trip. Yes I have been to Hong Kong, but this time round, am going with my wife and her cousins, as well as to visit my sister along with baby James.

The Morning arriving in Hat Yai, what a wonderful sight of 7-11. My fav place for snacks.

First Breakfast in Hat Yai. Feels very Malaysian to me.. Chicken Rice / Siew Yok / Char Siew. Definitely not halal.

Followed by breakfast was a visit to a local temple. Same deities we see in Malaysia.

Next up. Went for a drink of Bird Nest soup. The place looked a little dodgy from the outside, Not sure what kind of ‘bird’s nest’ they serve during the night. Starting from RM20 / bowl

One more place to check out before we go for our Lunch. Ice Dome. I let the pictures speak for themselves.

IPOH: De Hotel, Ipoh Garden

Date of Stay: August 31, 2011 – September 1, 2011

Stayed 1 night at De Hotel during our trip to Ipoh. It was a fairly new hotel launched in 2010 if not mistaken. Unfortunately, we had very little pictures and info to go from as there was no official website of the hotel. Reservation was done through a phone call.

Hotel was nicely decorated, simple, clean. 1 Lift to service Ground, 1st, and 2nd Floor seems pretty quick without having to wait too long for it to arrive. Refundable Deposit of RM100 was collected when we checked in even though we already paid for the room in full.

We stayed at the Deluxe Room, gallery below:

Room comes equipped with Queen Size bed, Day table, Hang-on-wall LCD TV, Coffee making facilities, air conditioning, glassed bathroom equipped with towels and toiletries, open hangers (instead of separate closet), No safety deposit box provided.

Our room facing the back of the hotel does come with a nice view overlooking residential houses and a mountain with the sunrise as a bonus if you wake up on time.

Hotel is shared building with Courts, no restaurant providing breakfast. As expected as we planned on getting our own dim sum breakfast in Ipoh. Situated in a quiet neighbourhood, with ample parking space at night when no one else is shopping at ‘Courts’.

Hotel is situated in Ipoh Garden, at the Round-a-bout of Jln Dato Lau Pak Kuan. Distance is about 3.5km away from the main food and business district of Ipoh. There is however Woolley Food Center nearby within walking distance of less than 400m. If you plan to travel around Ipoh for sight seeing and food hunting, strongly suggest you possess own transportation if intending to lodge at this hotel.

Standard Check-in time was 3pm. However room was available when we checked in at 2pm. Check-out time is 12pm, however we opted to check out early to avoid getting caught in the holiday jams.
