KRABI, Lae Lay Grill Restaurant

For the first night in Krabi, we decided to go for Lae Lay Grill Restaurant. This place was originally searched by my Dearest through reading other blogs as well as a recommended item on Trip Advisor. It is a Thai Seafood Restaurant which promises a breathtaking view of the Mountain and Sea of Ao Nang. As a bonus if weather permits, you get to enjoy your dinner with the sunset.

The restaurant offers free transportation to pick you up anywhere from Ao Nang and send you back as well after the Dinner.

During our walk around Ao Nang, we saw one of these vans driving around with the speaker blasting out their advertisement attracting tourist to go for their dinner. For us, we had asked the hotel reception to book a table for us. We were told that the sun sets early in Krabi, so we decided to arrange for pickup around 5.45pm local time. It was fairly near with less than 10minutes we have arrived.

Do forgive my earlier shots as I left my camera out in the open in the room, hence the lens got fogged up when we took it out for usage.

Typical Table Setting. Heavy Chairs…

We were quite early when we arrived, only a few tables were sitted, but a quick glance and it seems that all the other tables were reserved as well. Though there does not seem to have any particular seating booked under any names, so arrive early to get the balcony seat and view.

Some of the sunset moments (More lovely in real life)

Now let’s get down to business. For our dinner, we ordered the Andaman Seafood Platter (min of 2 for sharing), with a side of Tom Yum Soup (Small). Wait time was about 30mins although we were one of the first few customers there.

Our Dinner

Andaman Seafood Platter : The platter consists of 4 Large prawns, 4 Mussels, 1 Squid without head, 1 Small size crab, 1 Barramundi, with some greens on the side. The platter comes served with 4 different dipping sauce, from a sweet tangeriny sauce, Garlic butter (Too oily), Spicy sauce, and a spicier sauce. From the waiting time to the serving of the food, I couldn’t figure out which one caused the delay. The prawns were overcooked and the texture were a little mushy for my liking. The Fish and Squid were so-so, but my Dearest did love the crab. I could tell it was finger lickin’ good for her. The one thing I did love was the Tom Yum Soup, was quite refreshing and the aroma from the soup helped to open up our appetite. Soup was a Plus +1 for me and my Dearest. I could just eat the Tom Yum Soup with another bowl of rice, just that~

Coconut Ice Cream served in coconut, topped with cashew nuts and cherry (130 Baht)

What better way to end the meal with a nice desert. My Dearest ordered the coconut ice cream. Taste was light and refreshing, the cashew nuts added some nice crunchiness to feel of it. Total bill came to 1,860 Baht inclusive of 10% Service and 7% VAT. For the quality of the platter, I find it slightly overpriced, however, you do pay for the atmosphere and surroundings. It is one of the more famous restaurants in Ao Nang, do drop by for a visit and try other food and let me know what you think.

I conclude this post and leave you with more pics of the restaurant
